What We Look For
We have a particular interest in: manual transmissions, coupes and roadsters, JDM imports, Italian marques, French hot hatches, and classic vehicles of all kinds. Some examples of cars we love to buy and sell:
- Japanese: Mazda MX-5 (NA/NB/NC/ND), Subaru WRX & STI, Nissan Skyline (R32/R33/R34), Toyota AE86, Honda S2000, Honda Integra Type R
- Australian: Turbo XR6, HSVs, FPVs, V8s, etc
- German: Porsche, BMW M series cars like M3, M4, M5, M6, etc, Golf GTI, Golf R
- Italian: Alfa Romeo 147, 156, Giulia, GTV, Spider, Fiat Abarth
- French: Renault Clio Sport & MΓ©gane RS, Peugeot 205 GTI
- Everything else: Manual wagons, manual SUVs, interesting Europeans or Australian cars, if it's characterful, we're interested
But we're genuinely open to anything interesting. If you love it, there's a good chance we will too.
How Can We Offer More Than Other Dealers?
Most dealerships value cars using automated tools like Redbook. These tools, although useful, are not always accurate for low-volume or niche enthusiast cars. On top of that, volume dealers prefer cars they can move quickly: SUVs, family cars, automatics. A manual transmission is oftentimes a turn-off for a big brand dealership because they don't sell fast.
At Fun Cars, enthusiast cars are our bread and butter. We understand what these cars are actually worth and can appraise them properly without resorting to lowball offers.
We won't pretend a dealer offer matches what you'd get selling privately. But what you do get is certainty:
- - A guaranteed sale
- - Save your weekend from time wasters, no-shows and tyre kickers
- - No need to print and submit tons of paperwork, and most importantly
- - Quick and easy payment on the day
We work hard to make the gap as small as possible, with offers oftentimes reaching 90% of the average private sale price. (Subject to inspection and appraisal)

We respond within 30 minutes during business hours, and within 1β2 hours outside business hours. Selling a manual car in Melbourne, or any enthusiast car without a roadworthy, has never been easier, get in touch and we'll take it from there.
